Sheep Lead Contest

Superintendent:  Shannon Cordova

The object of this contest is to present wool and sheep in the most attractive manner, to give the spectators a real opportunity to see a contest of beauty and to promote the sheep and wool industry.

Entrant may be of any age, although old enough to lead the ewe themselves. Sheep must be conditioned, fitted and trained to show at halter. The entrant will be judged on the outfit selected and the entire costume must consist of a minimum of 50 percent wool fiber when all components are averaged. The predominant garment of the outfit must consist of at least 50 percent wool.

The outfit need not be handmade. The aim is to present a stylish and attractive picture, promote wool and lend elegance to the contest.

There will be judges in the following categories: judging the sheep, judging the contestant and outfit, and judging the overall picture. The highest number of total points determines the winner. Bonus points may be awarded for creativeness and originality or an outstanding sheep background.

A resume of the contestant’s background and a description of the person’s entire outfit will be submitted as part of the entry. If the outfit is homemade, a swatch of material should accompany the entry.

Rules: All entries (resumes) are due to Shannon Cordova on Friday, August 24, 2007. ( Shannon will be present at weigh-in)

Resumes may be one-half to one full page (8 1/2 x 11), typed or printed. Sheep to be lead must be ewes regardless of breed shown. Ewes must be conditioned, fitted and trained to show at halter.
